61. A Iittle Life - Hanya Yanagihara
I read this book months ago and I couldn't neither talk about it on social media as planned since I started it; nor write a review on Pensées Sabrininennes. I know why, and I do not know why at the same time. Try to understand, trust me you won't!
You know when you have all of your emotions all over the place, and you do not know how to exactly categorize them. Are you angry? Are you happy? Are you sad? Are you devastated? Are you depressed? Well, I kind of went through the same confusion.
With this book, I could travel through a whole spectrum of feelings, go from lowest to highest, and let hundreds of tears down my eyes while I was just sitting calmly and reading a book. How was that possible? Well, I figured out that all I had to do, was to open A Little Life and start to read.
I have been dragged so low by this book that I do not remember where was I before I started reading it.
I will not talk about the story itself because why would I when you can find all the info and synopsis on the internet?
What I would like to share through this blog is the details of your journey if you read this book.
Jude's character is very complex to study yet very easy to predict. This type of personality fights life to death, literally! This book will make you connect to all the characters to be able to go through the whole story but it will make you stronger and will also make you learn how to disconnect from strong and extremely harsh feelings.
If you are a sensitive reader and your imagination is vast, you will suffer during some scenes that were drawn out of the darkest places on earth. Indeed, you will feel that you are in the same room as the victim, watching all of the atrocities he is going through and you cannot do anything to help him.
You will be very knowledgeable about all the aspects of Jude's personality yet, discover something new each time you feel that you know it all.
Social Media made me read this book as everyone is promoting it on their profiles and I do blame them!
I mean, the publicity was done so well that I could not resist not knowing what is it all about.
I cannot recommend this book in the sense that it will trigger many traumas you might have whether you are conscious about them or you will discover them through Hanya's words.
Now that I know, can I come back to not knowing?
